Quick, Somebody Find Mike Rogers a Map

Hatched by Dafydd

Evidently, some Democratic dirty-tricks specialist -- and isn't there an extraordinary history of such people in the Democratic Party? -- named Mike Rogers has supposedly "outed" Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID, 96%) as "gay."

Craig denies it, as does his (heterosexual) family. Now, like Dean Barnett, I am completely indifferent to the truth or falsity of the charge (though unlike Dean, I very much oppose same-sex marriage). But as I read this on Hugh Hewitt, I was completely flummoxed: I didn't recall Craig being in any electoral danger, since his name hadn't appeared on any of the lists of senators who were in trouble. In fact, I couldn't find any polls about him at all.

But then I turned to Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball site and found out why: I discovered that Larry Craig isn't even running for reelection this year! He's not up until 2008, having been reelected in 2002.

What buffoonery the Democratic Party has embraced. For God's sake, if Democrats are going to sink to such despicable tactics as pointing and shouting "faggot!" at random Republicans, assuming that mindless Christian voters will recoil in horror from the unclean -- then wouldn't simple sanity suggest that such sleazy, homophobic attacks should be limited to people who are actually running for office that year?

Or does Rogers fantasize that if he calls Idaho's Larry Craig a homosexual, enraged voters 2,000 miles away will pull the lever for James Webb in Virginia?

As Jerry Pournelle likes to say, ye flipping gods.

The intent is to create disgust from 'Christain conservatives', whether they're running for re-election or not.

I waiting for a left winger to out William Bennett, Ralph Reed or Pat Robertson.

They are a bit stupid. Do they consider what happened to Kerry when he outed the VP's daughter? It did nothing but make Kerry look like the harsh thug he is.
If dimowits really thought that Republicans really hate gays, and they out them, then they are exposing people they claim to care for to hate and even danger, if one beleives the demohype. If I was a crypto member of anything, and someone who claimed to have my best interests at heart outed one of my fellow cryptos in order to show they care, they would not increase my confidence in the outers.
If they think that we on the right are as reactionary they are regarding people's private lives, they learned nothing from clinton. We care about actions on the job. clinton screwed Monica in the office on the job. Studds screwed the page while a page and took him on official trips to screw him. Foley was gay - that was OK - when he crossed the line and seemed to be doing it on the job, he was gone.
The dems, the party that backs NAMBLA, totally unchcecked internet all the time everywhere, backed Studds, Frank and clinton, kennedy, etc. really think they are going to gross out Republicans over Foley or the outing of a Republican politician?
They are not kidding us, so they must be kidding themselves. And they think they are going to win an *election* on a national basis on this tripe?
lol@the fools on the left.

The Democrats must think that voters who select "R" are stupid. That is the only explanation for why they are behaving as they are. As someone who has regretfully, occasionally, voted Democratic, I find this beyond insulting.

But in their mind they have carefully explained, in excruciating detail, that Bush is Hitler. That Republicans are corrupt crypto fascists. And of course, their own policies are so wonderful, so magnificent, the only possible reason voters would not vote for them is that, voters are ignorant racist homophobes, turning back the clock on the natural progression of history. Next up, Republicans just thinking about running for office eat babies. You heard it here first.

Has anyone else noticed, Democrats revel in any perceived hypocrisy? It is ambrosia, to be guzzled gluttonously, groaning, in front of the feverish, cheering mob. Quite disgusting really.

Newsflash - Most people (conservative Christians included) couldn't care one whit about your sexuality, but only ask that you keep it to yourself, and allow them to keep their sexuality to themselves. I think it has something to do with choice...and freedom.

And how do these "outings" occur? By spying and lying. Hypocrisy again rears its ugly head.

From iowahawk:
It's the Homos, Stupid: An Open Letter to the Conservative-American Community
by Dr. Howard Dean, Chairman, Democratic National Committee
http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2006/10/its_the_homos_s_1.html

excerpt:

Unfortunately, when serving as many diverse communities as we do at the DNC, sometimes an important relationship can inadvertently fall through the cracks. Frankly, I realize we have not always brought our "A Game" when it comes to the concerns of conservative-Americans. That's why we would like to take this opportunity to start a dialog with you, the conservative "values voter," by addressing an issue of vital importance to all of us -- the growing Republican homo menace. Despite what you may have heard on Fox News, we Democrats know what issues are on the minds of heartland conservatives like you. We know that your number one concern of is the safety of your children -- whether they are plucking their banjos on the back porch, speaking tongues to snakes at Jesus Camp, or torching crosses at your local Nascar racing contest. We also know that the number one threat to your children's safety is the scourge of international homo-ism.

In real life, maybe this didn't get onto paper, but I bet Dean wrote something like it in his head.

Okay, I'm a liberal dem and I don't find the outing of anyone to be okay. Mike Rogers is a moron and his tactics are indefensible. You all can go on and equate this with the stance of dems in general if you want, but it ain't the truth.

It ain't? Er, isn't? Then how come you're the first liberal Democrat I've seen anywhere denouncing it?

Many Republicans denounced it, but no Democrats that I've seen. Why not, if Rogers' actions are not consonant with "the stance of dems in general?"
