Michael Morales Dead Pool

Hatched by Dafydd

Well not really; I just wanted to make people jump up and say "what the heck?"

But I am curious: gentle readers, Mr. Morales is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday the 21st, I believe, for the brutal rape and beating-to-death of Teri Winchell, who was only a high-school girl. A federal judge appears to be leaning towards issuing a stay of execution, but he hasn't finally decided yet.

What do you think the odds are that Morales will actually be executed on the 21st, as opposed to receiving a stay?

No "dead pool;" just let me know your predictions, and we'll see how it goes. My own prediction is that he will receive a stay, but it will be vacated by the circus court, and he'll be executed later in the week.

(This is a low-confidence prediction, because it all depends upon the decision of one man; my prediction that Hillary will not be the Democratic nominee is a high-confidence prediction, because I base it on the whole arc of the Democratic Party's evolution the past few years.)

Have to go along with you on this one, except I think the Circus will kick it to the Supremes. Bottom line is Morales goes away, deservedly.

But we must be absolutely certain that no pain is caused to Mr. Morales. Gosh, won't those needle-sticks cause some discomfort? What kind of meanies are we?

It's up to the Supremes and the legal issues that caused them to issues the three others stays, appears to have been resolved. The Ninth Circuit Court has denied Morlaes lastest appeals and as I predicted earlier, Morales will be strapped down in a bit over 13 hours.

After he's executed, it will be interesting to see what happends with the whole fake juror declarations investigation. Who's responsible for the forged declarations?

BTW, the local Lodi paper has a good pro-death Editorial by the DA. Lodi Sentinel News

What is so disgusting is all the attention paid to predatory scum like this Morales and Tookie Williams but when it looks like a clearcut case of second amendment rights? Dead Silence.

I got this link in an email today.

I read this and I thought, that could be me, I would have done exactly the same thing faced with what this man faced.

I would like to know what the big deal is that this individual feels a little pain? It will only last a few moments- dont you think being strangled with a belt was painfull? Do we not think being hit in the head with a hammer over and over was painful- and then finally being stabbed 4 times in the chest? It seems to me that we forget the crimes that these death row people have done to get there. I have worked in corrections and I am in healthcare- This is supposed to be punishment- its not supposed to be pleasant?????
