I Support the Miers Nomination

Hatched by Dafydd

All right, I suppose I don't mind joining the bear's newest blog survey. Here you go:

I support the Miers nomination.

...With caveats and pending her performance in the hearing. Actually, the real reason I'm participating is that I'm vey curious to see whether her confirmation hearing changes any minds -- and in which direction! I hope NZBear has the wisdom to rerun his scavenger-bot after the hearing is over and see how things have shifted, one way or another. If at all.

So here's my vote, and we'll see what happens.

(Note, this post took six minutes from soup to baklava... but that doesn't quite break my speed record for putting up a post!)

Since you don't know Miers, the underlying reason for your endorsement, obviously, is a trust in President Bush's good judgement when it comes to picking judges. That's my basic position too. I can't critize his picks so far, and therefore, baring a Harriet Miers meltdown or scandal, I, along with the US Constitution, give the President the benefit of the doubt on judicial nominees, PROVIDED the nominees have an acceptable level of intelligence, temperament, and character, as determined by the Senate. I had my say back in November of 2004. If I still want to add my two cents, as I have every right to do, I should talk to my one (MN) US Senator that's running again. He's the only one that has to listen.

I feel that the whole Harriet Miers negativity, needs to stop, just start the Senate hearings, ask her a few questions, get the answers, then vote. I expect confirmation.

Dafydd, you gave Miers' math degree as a reason for supporting her--are you daft? I'm a mathematician and i would make a dreadful supreme--for one thing, i'm crazy, i see things other people can't see and think strange thoughts other people don't and can't think--at any moment i am liable to break into a tirade on quantum entanglement or evolutionary games theory--people stare at me as if i'm speaking in tongues or possessed by demons.
The ONLY reason GW selected her is because she is his friend and employee. Not good enough. He should have realized that that alone makes it absolutely imperative that her credentials should be unimpeachable--like Caesar's wife, she should be above reproach.

How many radical feminists does it take to change a light bulb?

Dafydd

How many radical feminists does it take to change a light bulb?

It can't be done. Changing lightbulbs is sex-limited.
I loathe radical feminists even more than the "bioethics" council.

(((Dafydd)))
hmm...i have to explain myself here as always.

Q. How many radical feminists does it take to change a light bulb?

A. It can't be done. Changing lightbulbs is sex-limited. As in a genetically sex-limited trait like red-green color blindness.

Science and Law don't mix. I've been rejected for every jury seat i've ever been called for.
