Something Missing From This Picture

Hatched by Dafydd

Pore through this small story on the election yesterday in the California 50th congressional district, which Big Lizards covered in Legacy of a Duke: Republicans Rock!

Here is the New York Times' entire discussion of the vote results. See if you can guess the missing piece:

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting early Wednesday, Busby had 56,147 votes, or 44 percent. Bilbray had 19,366 votes, or 15 percent, followed by Roach, a political newcomer who spent $1.8 million on his own campaign, who had 18,486 votes, or 14 percent, according to unofficial results.

Notice anything missing? (Audioize the Final Jeopardy theme running in the background.)

Suppose you're a casual reader, and you want to predict whether the Democrats or the Republicans will win the seat in the June runoff. What would you calculate? "Hm... the Democrat got 44%, but the Republicans, even added together, only got 29%. Obviously, this race is a lock for the Democrats!"

The "missing link" is the Times' failure to report that besides Bilbray and Roach, there were a dozen other Republicans... and that in reality, if you add together all the Republican votes, they got over 53% for an absolute majority. But you'd never know it if all you read is the New York Times.

Lest you think this is merely an oversight, the Times did manage to find one (1) Republican voter to quote:

John Towers, a 51-year-old Republican who voted for Roach, said he felt betrayed not only by Cunningham, but by the policies of the Bush administration.

''I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Republicans are so disgusted they just stay home,'' said Towers, of Cardiff.

"Media Madness" indeed!

The New York Times must hate you, huh. i mean, its like they are trying to regain their past, whilst they also try to 'stick fingers' into a rather serious leakage problem of 'Der 'Da Advertisement *DAM*, and here comes Dafydd disputing (basically, huh) their rather obvious Advertisement *DAM* leakage problems, and they still don't understand that you have been quite merciful about not mentioning their leaking subscription problems.

With Patterico hammering away at the LA 'You-Know-Who' on the west coast, it is a blessing to watch Dafydd Dualistically gently hammer away at the infamous New York Times, here on the east coast.

This is a good year to be Political, well...unless you are trying to sell liberal news in print, or CBS trying to replace one liberal with a *REAL* Communist/Socialist...so to speak of Dan being replaced by Katie "CBS's Communist Salvation" Couric.

When i see sweet Katie, humble hermit me am reminded of sweet Senator Mary "Baby Fat" Landrieu, and my tomb-of-flesh lusts once again. Basically, "Baby Fat" blonde big powerful Women have always been attracted to humble me, and i became a swamp hermit because such sexual abuse by sweet powerful "Baby Fat" (notice that i stop using the Dualistic term "blonde", at this point) Women becomes boring after such recidivistic abuse...so to speak of such 'Thangs.

“Like two golden birds perched on the selfsame tree, intimate friends, the ego and the Self dwell in the same body. The former eats the sweet and sour fruits of the tree of life, while the latter looks on in detachment”. - The Mundaka Upanishad

Hermits understand such Eastern World words, whilst knowing why most Western World Women have no clue as to such meanings, even the lustful "Baby Fat" powerful Ladies...so to speak of colour means nothing at such a hunger point of flesh.

Can the infamous New York Times, come up with a reporter...any reporter, whom might be able to explain that one, or even any other of the Upanishads. BTW...Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Jews, this ain't the time to avoid or become shy, so help the MSM reporters confront one such as i!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Times had a glorious past - particularly when self-recounted. A legend in their own minds to be sure.

But so did Joseph Pulitzer's NY World - which is long gone. Time for the Times to go the same way with the rest of the dinosaurs....

Someone stuff a sock in the mouths of various senior Democrats. Notably Nancy Pelosi and John Dingel until after election day. It's the only hope....

LOL

Heh, it will matter not a whit until the average Joe European realizes what Ludwig von Mises knew in 1917 and revolts (hmm, we need to get the average Joe American to do the same thing here). Socialism doesn't work, hasn't worked and will never work. Socialism is slavery.
