Can'tcha Take a Joke?

Hatched by Dafydd

Speaking at the Cary Rotary Club, here's North Carolina Gov. Beverly Eaves "Bev" Perdue (a liberal Democrat -- and if you didn't already know, this quotation should make it plain):

You have to have more ability from Congress, I think, to work together and to get over the partisan bickering and focus on fixing things. I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. The one good thing about Raleigh is that for so many years we worked across party lines. It's a little bit more contentious now but it's not impossible to try to do what's right in this state. You want people who don't worry about the next election.

If Gov. Perdue is worrying about the next congressional (and presidential) elections, she's got good reason!

If "You want people who don't worry about the next election." is her criteria, then we should select MoC (Members of Congress) by lot, for one term.

I'll bet she doesn't like that idea, though.

Imagine what would have happened if a powerful leader with an armed miitia talked about discarding ther Constitution.

Beverly holds an office that makes her one of the 51 highest office holders in the country, (President plus 50 governors), who also commands an armed North Carolina militia.

Treason! And there are Precedents for treating it as such.

1) President George Washington broke up the Whiskey Rebellion with armed troops.
2) President Madison sent the army into Connecticutt and tried the secessionists in 1814 for Treason and Sedition.
3) President Abraham Lincoln sent the Army into the southern States to arrest the scessionist leaders seeking to overthrow the Constitution, in the Civil War.
4) Oh, and President Bill Clinton sent the FBI into Waco to barbecue children and attempt to arrest a Leader with an armed militia.
