The "I" In the Pyramid

Hatched by Dafydd

Have we ever had an American president as narcissistic as we have today? Toby Keith's "I Wanna Talk About Me" could be the Obamic theme song.

I just read the transcript of the president's announcement that Osama bin Laden had finally been killed. I was startled to discover that not only was Barack H. Obama the very first president to enunciate a policy of going after terrorists associated with 9/11, he personally planned the entire operation -- it was all his idea, which he kindly passed along to Agency agents; not only that, he was the point man on the insertion team, firing the fatal shot himself, in between rounds 66 and 67 of golf:

And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.

Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed more information about the possibility that we had located bin Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice.

Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body.

Yeesh.

If you ever invite President Obama to your wedding, for heaven's sake, don't let him make the toast! By the time he finishes (a couple of hours later), he will have become the groom, and will be triumphantly leading the bride to the marital bed.

Clinton used to use "I" just as much. Likewise, his cabinet members always invoked his name when explaining what had been done. Bush41/43 were both more of the "we" types.

I'm just glad to hear that we gave Osama a proper Muslim burial.

All this time ive heard that Islam is a religion of peace. Clearly it's not. Otherwise, why bury such a murderer as though he were a Muslim?

In line with that, please see here and follow the links. If the report linked therein is accurate, not only is Obama royally hypocritical, he is dangerously and criminaly indecisive.

GW:

Much as I would love to believe it -- I don't. Several reasons:

  1. I have never before heard of the website socyberty.com. I know nothing whatsoever about them; for all I know, it could be an anti-Obama covert op itself.
  2. In general, I am highly skeptical of anonymous sources, even when they're interviewed by normally believable news sources... which socyberty.com is not.
  3. It's detailed all right; too detailed. If it wasn't invented out of whole cloth, then it can only have come from one of the principals: Probably either Hillary "Fist Lady" Clinton (my guess) or Leon "the Machete" Pinetta, both of whom have ample reason to slant the account to favor themselves at the expense of their boss.

Panetta has already been named to be Secretary of Defense; with the success of the mission, Obama does not dare withdraw his appointment, so there is no downside. The upside is that Panetta likely wants to run for the presidency himself in 2016 (if not 2012), and this makes him look decisive, despite never before having been known as a master of kinetic military action.

And Mistress Clinton has hated Obama with the sort of eternal, towering rage which only she can muster. As well, she too aspires to higher office: She wants to be la Duca.

(She has said she never wants to run for elective office again; I take her at her word!)

All of which underscores why I don't trust anonymous sources; without knowing who's speaking, we can't possibly determine who's lying.
