Quick and Snarky Observation
In 2008, we elected the least accomplished or experienced person in American history to be President of the United States. Before being elected to the highest office in the land, Barack H. Obama had essentially done nothing but be a "community organizer," taught a bit of law, and run incessantly for higher office while ignoring whatever office he already held.
Now he turns out to be, among other things, the most incompetent president in American history.
Correlation?
Perhaps next time we should insist upon a resume longer than two inches. You think?

But he's still running for a higher office.
(Although to rational observers of politics, the Secretary-General of the United Nations is not a higher office than President of the United States of America.)

I would bet you that not one in fifty Americans could tell you anything specific about Obama's contributions during his (just-under) four years as a U.S. Senator.
A relief act for the Congo. A bill regulating (mostly banning) U.S. exports of elemental mercury. Those are the two most significant public bills that he and his own staff actually drafted and saw passed into law.
He was allowed -- purely as an "across-the-aisle courtesy" -- to put his name on a couple of other noncontroversial bills actually written and principally sponsored by GOP senators, one relating to nonproliferation and the other promoting internet reporting of government expenditures.
With this massive background of legislative craftsmanship, we're supposed to be surprised when he "oversees" a mess like the health care bill?

Although... the Secretary-General of the UN is not a higher office than President of the United States of America.
Were it not for the prospect of President Biden looming over us, I would be eager for Obama to move on up to Secretary General, ASAP.
