A Tale of Two Shootings
Just out of curiosity, does anybody believe that the Arkansas shooting of two Army recruiters, one fatally, will get the same kind of political scrutiny as the shooting of a late-term abortion doctor in Kansas?
Will the former be adduced as left-wing extremism against the military, as the latter is already being exploited as right-wing extremism against abortion rights?
We don't yet know why the recruiters were shot; perhaps it's entirely personal. On the other hand, we really don't yet know why Dr. George Tiller was murdered, either; that too could be personal, or it could be that his killer (perhaps in custody) was simply deranged and had no rational motive at all.
But my question is not about the reality of motive but the political reality of spin... and I just don't see the same intensity of speculation among the elites in the Army-recruiter story as the abortion-doctor one.
But maybe it's just I.

Actually, they found comments of his on some pro-life websites condemning Tiller and calling for a "presence" at Tiller's church.
Still, your point is well taken, I'd be shocked if anyone gave the Recruiter's murder any more than a passing mention, much less an in depth investigation.

IF... the Tiller shooter is proved to have done this heinous act as a political statement, he should be declaimed as a Domestic Terrorist by every serious Republican. It's a stand that shouldn't have to be publicly taken, but these days it does.
IF... the Recruiting Station shooter is proved to have done THAT heinous act as a political statement, the victims should be given Purple Hearts. The Government should recognize that this is indeed enemy action against our Military.

They will both be blamed on "right wing NRA gun nuts" & exploited by the left to rescind 2nd amendment rights

CNN is saying the suspect arrested is a Muslim convert.

The killer of the soldier was apparently converted to Islam here in the U.S. - which should raise a host of alarms about the continued salafization of Islam in America. It won't, which insures that the war of ideas in Islam - the really important war - will continue on without the involvment of our government.
Here is an interesting post for you Dafyyd. http://www.qando.net/?p=2828
