Mrs. P Rallies the Troops

Hatched by Lee

Incoming Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was interviewed by Brit Hume on Special Report Wednesday. Hume asked her whether it was more important to win in Iraq or more important to leave Iraq.

Here is her inspirational answer:

The point is, this isn't a war to win, it's a situation to be solved. You define 'winning' any way you want, but you must solve the problem.

This certainly compares very favorably with the less sophisticated Shakespearian speech by King Hal in the Life of King Henry the Fifth, act 4, scene 3 -- the speech that ends this way:

This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

It's too bad Shakespeare didn't have Nancy Pelosi editing him; the play would have been much shorter, and it would be easier for students to memorize the important bits.

Thanks be to the Constitution that she is not the Commander in Chief. As an old woman, she expresses an old woman's attitude. She wants things to be neat, orderly and predictable so she can doze serenely in her rocking chair on her front porch. Struggling for an objective, such as stability in Iraq so the thousands of lives will not have been spent in vain, is not for her and a protracted global war on terror probably fills her with horror.

I was going to post of this very same thing, but what can you say about NOTHING?!?! No plan, no ideas, no clue, no NOTHING!!

Apparently, beyond changing the drapes, the Dems had no plans in the event of winning the Congress.

Color me surprised.

Ah, the San Francisco Treat.

The of course Briton announces they are tracking 30 separate Al Queda terror plots. Al Queda crows about Rumsfeld resigning, and says they have 12,000 fighters in Iraq.

Her cluelessness is perfectly timed.

I hate to think that the fate of Western civilization hangs by this self-important bit of silly string. Unfortunately if the feckless Republicans, now in the minority, cannot mount a united public-relations offensive against it, it will be left to our "new tone" President to put the smack down on these treasonous idiots, early and often. I wish I could be confident that it would happen.

I am neither surprised nor at all displeased that the Dems have no plans for making changes in Iraq. I think that their planlessness is planned. The second they propose any definite action they are on the hook for some part of the outcome. My hope and my expectation is that they will content themselves with political theater on Iraq -- endless commissions and investigations and investigations of the commissions and commissions to study the investigations -- and will count on the shrillness of their virtuoso high-notes to distract their base from the fact that the net result of all the political theater is nil. They have had years and years of success using the unpopular "Republican" war as a club to beat their opponents. The last thing they want is to take ownership now.

It may have a bit of a Gilbert and Sullivan feel to it

New direction in Iraq! Tarantara! Tarantara!
All the troops will soon be back! Tarantara!

...

Yes, but we don't go!

We go, we go.

The woman is 2 heart beats away from the Presidency. I assume she is getting regular briefings now, and can only pray it makes an impression on her.

I find this exqusite Zen of coincidence that St. Crispin's Day is on October 25. The Gunfight at the OK Corral was on October 26. Just a little appropriate trivia.

As a woman, I know how women can act. I can't wait for the cat-fight that is going to eventually develop between Pelosi and Hillary. It's gonna be good. You think Hil is gonna allow Nancy to have more power?

Fasten you seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy ride!

Voters are the problem, and not "Mrs. P"...in my humble opinion.

Long story there, and i'm not going to waste my time typing it...so to speak.

America has lasted longer than most major societies (even whilst tying their own hands behind their own backs during such a process), and i can't wait to see a Division of Islam's followers trying to make it across my swamp. A few might make it...so to speak of a *BIG* difference between dry air and humidity air. (With so many throats to slit, mass beheadings will be out of the question.)

Yes, of course, i shall probably die of natural causes before ever seeing such...especially since Islam's leaders have a much larger right pincer than they do a left pincer. They will go for our throats and wallets again; however, it will be serious the next time...so to speak of the It’s the economy, stupid!

BTW, Chris...yore cartoons seem a tad slow recently. Try Burkas on "Sam" and "Jan" instead, since its coming, and if they don't age too fast (in which case a stoning might work better). Think about it...
