New GOP Bloggers straw-man poll

Hatched by Dafydd

...So long as y'all bear in mind that these things are completely meaningless:

  • It's a long, long road to 2008;
  • It's on the internet;
  • Since "yourself" decided to show up here and take the poll, it's "self selected";
  • It assumes everyone knows who everyone on the list is; there are some here that I know only vaguely, like Sam Brownback and Mike Hiccoughy.

So with those caveats in mind, here you go...

Have fun, kids. Be back before 11:00. No drinking, smoking dope, or knocking up the landlord's daughter.

And as David Letterman used to say, this is only an exhibition, not a contest; so please -- no wagering!

Be honest, "Chuck Hagel" is a survey control designed to weed out the Republicans with dementia and other mental disabilities, right?

Hey, how about some love for the overseas voter? Can you add an "ex-pat" choice for your drop down list?

Don't know about y'all, but I've totally jumped on the Romney bandwagon. Looks like a bunch of other self-selected respondees have, too.

Dafydd, I contacted my representative, Ron Paul, about his vote on the military tribunals bill (he's one of the 7 Republicans who voted against it) and got a truly idiotic response back. It needs a better fisking than I have time for. (My favorite part is how he keeps referring to "the Geneva Convention" as if there were only one.) So I thought I might send it to you. But I don't see an email address for you anywhere...

And by the way, Dafydd, what I meant by "don't have time" is "don't have talent." I've been known to do an occasional fisk, but my talents really don't lie in that area. And yours do. I'm salivating just thinking of the prospect of your tearing Rep. Paul into itty-bitty shreds, with humor and good sense informing the process.

But now I must stop hero-worshipping you and go to work.

Is it okay to separate Colorado from California in the drop-down menu, please? :-) I'm not one, but most native Coloradans do not want want to be associated with California if they can help it. Hee.

Pigilito:

I can't "add" anything! The only thing that is on Big Lizards is that same script line that you see in the box at the bottom of the poll. There is no polling software on Big Lizards yet, because we haven't been able to make anything work.

(A fellow is working on some, but I think real life is taking precedence at the moment.)

Everything you see there is on the GOPBloggers site; only they can change it. For the nonce, just put your home state, or whatever state you like best.

Mrs. Peel:

So I thought I might send it to you. But I don't see an email address for you anywhere...

We've actually been dithering back and forth (Sachi and I) ever since the blog started whether we'd have an e-mail address. On the one hand, I get so much e-mail as is, this would be just one more thing to check; but on the other hand, it would be handy for people to send tips and such.

But on the third hand, people already send me e-versions of unpublished manuscripts they think I'll read and edit for them. But on the fourth hand, it would be a handy e-mail address to put on Big Lizards business cards. If we ever make Big Lizards business cards.

For the instant, why not just copy Ron Paul's response and paste it into a comment here? No guarantees -- I have to be able to think of really clever and witty responses to his inanities, and I'm only occasionally up to those standards, as should be plain to all! -- but I'd sure love to read it regardless.

Thanks,

Dafydd

See comment above to Pigilito; I have no control over the content of the poll. None. Nought. Bagel.

Mrs Peel,

I too have jumped onto the Romney bandwagon. I'm surprised he is doing as well as Guliani, since Guiliani has way more name recognition and I think (Not sure about this) that Dafydd's site is more middle of the road than conservative, so i'd think Guliani would get a lot more votes.

As Romney becomes more well known nationally he should start to do better in polling, unless he make some kind of major error or the media machine begins to attack him full force.

With his business background and the fact that he was elected in a blue state, i'd give him a better than even shot right now of capturing the GOP nomination.

Giuliani's acceptable to me as long as he keeps his hands off my guns.

I went one better, Dafydd - posted the email and my response over at Innocent Bystanders, and linked your post on the subject. (Click my name.)
