Dan, I think their intended "over the horizon" location is a combination of Guam, Hawaii, New York, San Francisco, and perhaps Taiwan -- no, wait, scratch Taiwan, that might be dangerous.

Unfortunately, if they win in November, the ultimate result of their fantasy will be the horizon setting permanently on our republic.

Perhaps Kerry can ask the other Massachusetts Senator to provide driving lessons. Just remember to decline when he offers amphibious training.

I have as much disdain for Kerry and his ignorant liberal elite buddies as the next guy but I actually watched this live. It is pretty clear that, while he said it poorly, he was asking if Iraqis were unable to drive trucks. In other words, he assumes that the US soldiers getting hit with IEDs are just driving supply trucks around and don't need to be manned with well trained soldiers. Any truck driver will do. We have truck driving schools that only take weeks to get through. Why haven't we started some in Iraq?

So it is still an ignorant statement, just not for the reason you attribute to him. Somebody with some time in grade doing this job should write a post on how ignorant it is. Additionally, aren't many of the IED problems on tactical vehicles (i.e. patrols) and not supply convoys? I am not a military guy so I don't tend to notice those details, in the rare cases that the press mentions them.
